PURPOSE:To chamfer off the whole periphery of the edges of a slider surface by applying a lapping material to the surface of an elastic body fixed on a fixing board, setting up the slider surface of a magnetic head on a lapping material, and while applying pressing force from the opposite side of the slider surface to the magnetic head, lapping the elastic body. CONSTITUTION:The head 1 is set up on the lapping tape 12 and pressing force is applied from the opposite side to the sliding surface as shown in the arrow F. Consequently, the edge parts 2a of the slider surface 2 are especially and strongly pressed by the lapping tape 12 on the basis of the elastic displacement of the elastic sheet 11, and when the head 1 is reciprocated front and back along a guide groove 10a under said condition, the whole periphery of the edges of the slider surface 2 are chamfered off 2a. |
