PURPOSE:To improve the sealing performance and durability by installing a sealing member which is held in the cylinder part of a bearing bracket and contacts in slidable ways onto the peripheral surface of a steering column shaft and a supporting member for an elastic member which holds the bearing bracket and is fixed onto the chassis side. CONSTITUTION:The bearing part 12a of a bearing bracket 12 is attached in slidable ways onto the peripheral surface of a steering column shaft 11, and the cylinder parts 12a which form the space in a certain dimension between the peripheral surface of the shaft 11 are formed at the both edge parts of the bracket 12. An elastic annular sealing member 13 is fitted and held into the cylinder part 12a, and the top edge parts of the convex parts 13a on the both sides of the inner periphery of a sealing member 13 are springily attached in slidable ways onto the peripheral surface of the shaft 11. The bracket 12 is accommodated into an elastic holding member 15, and the left edge part of the member 15 is fixed onto a chassis-side member. Therefore, the member 13 and the shaft 11 are always attached by a uniform pressure over the whole periphery, and the sealing performance and the durability of the member 13 can be improved. |
