PURPOSE:To maintain high energy density for bearing a long-range cycle life in a storage battery having a zinc pole and a nickel pole by adding indium ions and lithium ions to an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:In a nickel-zinc storage battery mainly composed of zinc and zinc oxide while using a zinc pole containing indium, thallium or oxide and hydroxide thereof and a nickel pole, a compound of indium with lithium is added to a prescribed alkaline electrolyte for solving the respective ions. Thereby, the discharge voltage of the nickel-zinc storage battery can be heightened while improving an energy density thus to obtain a longer-range cycle life. |
