The present invention relates to a method of fixing cladding panels onto a supporting surface, method in which the panel 1 is fixed via its upper edge onto the supporting wall 2 by at least one fixing lug. According to the invention, the said panel 1 fits into an element of the subjacent panel via a rigid element projecting relative to its lower edge, the rigid element 7-12 projecting relative to the lower edge fitting into at least one housing 13-16 or onto at least one projection 24 provided in the or one of the upper fixing lugs 4-11-21 of the subjacent cladding panel. The invention is applicable to cladding with cast stone panels. <IMAGE>
