PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording paper having excellent color forming sensitivity and accompanied by little ground fogging, by using a specified fluoran compound as a color former (electron-donative color former). CONSTITUTION:At least one fluoran compound of general formula ( I ), wherein each of R1 and R2 is hydrogen, 1-8C alkyl, phenyl which may be substituted by 1-4C alkyl or halogen, cycloalkyl, phenylalkyl or alkoxyalkyl, X is hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl or halogen, and Y is hydrogen, 1-8C alkyl, chlorine, fluorine or trifluoromethyl, is incorporated in a thermal color forming layer. The fluoran compound of formula ( I ), e.g., 2-anilino-3-benzyl-6-diethylaminofluoran or 2-anilino-3-benzyl-5-dibutylaminofluorna, is substantially colorless per se, but when being brought into contact with an electron-acceptive substance, it rapidly forms a color. Namely, the fluoran compound forms a blackish color on making contact with a phenol derivative such as bisphenol A or a carboxylic acid ester such as benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate. |
