Device for hardening disc-shaped workpieces

The invention relates to a device for hardening disc-shaped or leaf-shaped workpieces made of materials which can be hardened by rapid cooling and are raised to the hardening temperature beforehand. The process referred to as salt bath hardening previously known for this purpose is labour-intensive, involved and highly polluting. These disadvantages are to be eliminated and hardening of such workpieces at a high throughput and simultaneously low distortion is to be achieved. For this purpose, a device is proposed which is characterised by a quenching chamber into which the workpieces can be introduced and at least there are to be arranged in a row one behind the other, cooling bodies of suitable size, number and arrangement being situated in the chamber for the purpose of quenching.
