A product with immunological or endocrinological activity and with a standardisable product action is proposed and contains in a physiological medium at least one histone, in particular at least one histone H2 or a region of this histone which is active in terms of action. Hence the use of histones and/or histone sections for the preparation of a product of this type is also proposed. The histones can be obtained from endocrine organs, e.g. from thymus. Since H2A and H2B histones from cattle and from humans are identical, the histones can be obtained for the product according to the invention for use in human medicine. Products according to the invention can also contain only one evolutionarily variable section of at least one histone, especially of an H2A or H2B histone. Sections of this type can be prepared relatively easily by synthetic and/or genetic engineering processes. The invention is particularly based on the observation that the region, which is active in terms of action, of a histone which has immunological or endocrinological activity is located within the evolutionarily variable histone section. The product according to the invention can be employed therapeutically inter alia as antagonist of corticotropin (ACTH), as synergist of growth hormone (GH), and as thyroid antagonist.
