Device for retracting a seatbelt with a seatbelt retraction mechanism which has a lock (51) which is provided on a seat of a vehicle, a lock sensor (52) which perceives whether the lock (51) is coupled to a latch plate (50) on the seatbelt (12) or not, a voltage sensor which perceives a lack of voltage or looseness of the seatbelt (12) by means of the operation of a sliding connection (4) and a motor (20) for retracting the seatbelt (12). The device for retracting the seatbelt also has a control circuit (CONT) which generates a control signal for controlling the seatbelt retraction mechanism in response to signals from the lock sensor (52) and from the voltage sensor. The control circuit (CONT) contains a motor reverse rotation detector element, a motor load detector element and a motor drive element so that the motor (20) is driven if it is perceived that it is rotating in reverse.
