CONSTITUTION:A coating part 12 in the end part of an optical fiber core 10 is peeled and is put in a groove 30, and a strand 14 is put in a groove 50, and the end part of the coating part 12 is applied to a stopper 36, and a retainer 38 is lowered to hold it. Solenoids 32 and 52 are operated to close a coating clamp 20 and a strand clamp 40, and the coating part 12 and the fiber strand 14 are caught in respective grooves. Next, a motor 64 is rotated, and the fiber strand 14 is scratched with an edge 72, and the strand 14 is slightly bent and curved when the edge 72 is brought into contact with the fiber strand 14, and the edge 72 is slightly moved backward while compressing a spring 76. Next, a motor 96 is rotated, and a pushing tool 88 is moved forward and is applied to the strand 14 from the direction vertical to the strand 14, and a bending stress is applied to it to break it. |
