A toner refilling device to refill a toner storage region with toner, from which toner storage region the toner is fed to a development section, has a holder for the releasable holding of a cartridge, which contains a quantity of toner and which can be fixed in a toner holding and toner removal position and in a refilling position, in which the cartridge is held essentially horizontally and is driven in such a way that it rotates, causing the toner to be discharged onto a toner conveying track, which leads to the toner storage region. The cartridge is provided with a first adaptator part and the holder is provided with a second adaptator part which corresponds in position and shape to the first adaptator part. As a result of this, only the cartridge with the first fitting part can be correctly held by the holder, so that refilling with toner can be carried out.
