<p>NEW MATERIAL:A glycidyl ether compound of hexabromo-p-phenylphenol shown by the formula I (group shown by the formula II is substituted for one or both aromatic nuclei). USE:A flame-retardant for synthetic resins or its raw material. Providing synthetic resins with improved flame-retardance, having improved compatibility with synthetic resins and solvents, weather resistance, heat resistance, etc. Having extremely low migration in synthetic resins, and improved characteristics especially not exerting bad influence on molding of synthetic resins, mechanical and electrical properties. PREPARATION:p-Phenylphenol is reacted with Br2 in a solvent of methylene chloride in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3 to prepare hexabromo-p-phenylphenol, which is reacted with epichlorohydrin under heating in the presence of an aqueous solution of NaOH, to give a compound shown by the formula I .</p> |
