A method for detonating a cartridge which is constructed for impact detonation by means of an impact bolt or hammer and whose external surface is electrically conductive at least in the region of the detonating compound and in the adjacent regions of the cartridge, in a firearm, especially a handgun, is characterised in that the conductive external surface is electrically heated in the region of the detonating compound. In consequence, such a cartridge can be detonated without an impact bolt or hammer.
