Inspection device for measuring geometrically differing pipe systems and corresponding bodies, in particular for exhaust systems. Reducing the multiplicity of inspection devices is possible as described below by an appropriate design of the same. The inspection device has a cast honeycomb basic body on which a displaceable carriage equipped with grid plates is installed. In the event of excessive concentration of test points on a measurement axis, this carriage enables the formation of substitute axes by the axial displacement of said measurement axis. Reference bodies are fixed on the grid plates in accordance with the number of the measurement points. Owing to their dimensionally accurate construction, the reference bodies provide the test adaptors with the required position and fix them by means of a resilient element. It is possible with the aid of these test adaptors to detect the geometrical positional deviation of the specimen visually, manually or else electronically. An exchangeable clamping unit equipped with a multiple clamping system is mounted on the basic body for the purpose of determining and clamping the specimen.
