PURPOSE:To obtain an interlayer capable of enlarging the latitude of processing temp. affecting image density by mixing 2 kinds of dispersions difference in composition, and controlling the temp. dependency of scavenger activity. CONSTITUTION:The second component constituting dispersed particles miscible with the first component of the scavenger of the oxidized product of a developing agent is insoluble in water, and has a b.p. of >=200 deg.C, and e.g., alkyl phthalate, such as dibutyl phthalate, can be used for the second component. As the scavenger, e.g., hydroquinones, aminophenols, etc. are used. These scavengers and the second component are dissolved in a low-boiling solvent and added into a hydrophilic colloid to prepare an emulsion, or a material different from the second component is used or an amt. of the second component is changed in use ratio to prepare the second emulsion, and these emulsions are mixed to obtain an emulsion to be used for an interlayer. This scavenger is used in an amt. of about 0.4-10millimol/m<2>, and the second component is used in a second component/scavenger weight ratio of 1/10-10/1. As the silver halide emulsion, silver iodobromide or silver chlorobromide contg. <=10mol% iodide or <=30mol% chloride, respectively, is used.
