METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING ABNORMALITY IN CUTTING WITH GAS CUTTER

PURPOSE:To detect quickly abnormality by detecting the heating temp. in the preheating stage of a gas cutting part and the scattering spark of the melt from the cutting pat in the cutting stage thereof and emitting an alarm for abnormality according to the temp. below the firing temp. and the extinction of the scattering spark. CONSTITUTION:An optical pyrometer 9 is disposed alongside the cutting part of a billet 1 and the heating temp. in the preheating stage of the billet 1 by a cutting torch 6 is detected with respect to gas cutting of an iron material in continuous casting or continuous rolling, etc. An alarm is sounded from a signal circuit 13 when the temp. of the billet 1 is below the firing temp. upon lapse of the time specified by a time switch 12. On the other hand, a spark detector 10 is disposed below the side part of the billet 1 to detect the scattering spark of the melt in the cutting stage from the gas cutting part. An alarm device 15 sounds an alarm when the output from the detector 10 does not attain the specified value. The abnormality in continuous gas cutting is thus quickly detected and the adverse influence such as shutdown is eliminated.
