The weaving loom comprises a unit which inserts weft yarn into the shed and is fed from a bobbin. The yarn feed system comprises at least two feed assemblies, at least one yarn break (or absence) detector upstream of the unit, and a control unit which responds to the detector signal by switching off the assembly generating the detector signal and activating another assembly. The feed assemblies are pref. identical and may consist of, e.g. two, yarn bobbins only, or of two sets of two bobbins. Each assembly may comprise a weft preparation winder between the bobbin(s) and the insert unit.
