PURPOSE:To prepare novel antibiotic F-2702 useful as an antifugal agent, an antiseptic, etc., acting effectively on Trichophyton, by cultivating a specific bacterium belonging to the genus Gluconobacter, treating the culture. CONSTITUTION:Gluconobacter oxdans subsp. F-2702 separated from a soil specimen (collected at HIRABARI at NAGAYA city), belonging to the genus Gluconobacter, capable of producing antibiotic F-2702 is used. Namely, the strain is cultivated in a medium containing glucose, etc. as a carbon source, hepton, yeast extract, etc. as a nitrogen source at about 6-8pH, at about 27- 37 deg.C for about 4-10 days, a mold, etc. are removed by filtration, centrifugation, etc., the prepared culture solution is extracted and purified by a conventional procedure, to prepare antibiotic F-2702[elemental composition: carbon 64.88%, hydrogen 5.52% (containing no nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, and halogens), molecular weight: about 300, melting point: decomposing at 119 deg.C].
