PURPOSE:To erase stored radiation energy by irradiating an accelerated phosphorescence body with halogen lamp light. CONSTITUTION:The radiation image recording medium 13 having a layer containing the accelerated phosphorescence body before being irradiated with a radiation image is irradiated with light by the erasure part 19 composed of a filter 21 which cuts off light with shorter wavelength than the wavelength range of excited light of the accelerated phosphorescence body, a halogen lamp 22, and a reflecting mirror 20. In this case, the recording medium may be irradiated while moved facing plural halogen lamps in an array. The light with shorter wavelength than the excited light wavelength range rather has a noise erased than has its light energy absorbed and stored as noise, so the filter is used. Then, the medium is irradiated with the radiation image to cause accelerated phosphorescence, thereby forming a noise-free record.
