PURPOSE:To obtain the control apparatus of an anaerobic digestion process for preventing digestion inferiority, by providing a means for operating the ratio of the integration value of a methane generation amount and the wt. of charged org. sludge to compare the same with a preset value. CONSTITUTION:Digested sludge is conc. in a second digestion tank 6 and receives solid-liquid separation to separate a supernatant liquid. Because a large amount of acid producing bacteria and methane producing bacteria are contained in conc. digested sludge, this conc. digested sludge is returned to a first digestion tank 2 to make it possible to enhance the concn. of bacteria in the first digestion tank 2. Therefore, the total digestion reaction speed in the first digestion tank 2 can be enhanced. On the other hand, if the load of a charge org. substance is too large, the balance of acid producing bacteria and methane producing bacteria is lost and the concn. of volatile org. acids becomes high and the degree of digestion inferiority caused by overload in an amount corresponding to that of the charge org. substance can be judged by the concn. of the volatile org. acids.
