<p>An annular inward-flow filter element for dry-cleaning fluid comprises an outer pleated filter sheet 1, with by-pass holes 7 in the inner folds of the sheet, and an inner filter sheet 2, with a dirt-holding cavity 5 between them which may contain a bed of active carbon 6. When sheet 1 is generally clogged by solids, fluid can still flow through holes 7 to be filtered by bed 6 and sheet 2.
