PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically engage a hatch cover with a convex sealing part and an engaging wedge on a coaming, by forming a notch part and an inclined part in a guide rail in positions corresponding to the positions of wheels in the closing position of the hatch cover. CONSTITUTION:A rail 4 for guiding the travel of a hatch cover 1 in opening and closing directions thereof, is formed such that it has an inclined part 5 to which the front wheel 2 of the hatch cover 1 is lowered and locked, and a notch part 6 to which the rear wheel 3 thereof is lowered and locked. An elevator mechanism 7, 8 for guiding the lowering of the rear wheel 3 is provided in the notch part 6. On a coaming 11 there are provided a stationary wedge 13 to which a wedge 10 provided on the hatch cover is engaged and a bead 15 against which a downward facing resilient seal 14 abuts. By moving the hatch cover the seal and lock thereof may be automatically made.
