PURPOSE:To arrange so that unprinted lines may be processed effectively by providng a passage sensor means at the right end or left end of a printing zone in a shuttle base and varying a direction changeover timing of the shuttle base in accordance with the number of unprinted lines in printing data. CONSTITUTION:Positions a, b represent the right and left ends of a printing width under the control of a printing device 4. That is, the positions fall on the right and left ends 15, 16 of a shuttle base 5. If the passage of the shuttle base 5 through the position (a) or (b) is detected by an optical sensor 8, an instruction for direction changeover is issued to a motor 6 from a control unit 10, resulting in the changeover of the shuttle 6. If the following line is not printed, the timing for the instruction for direction changeover is sequentially delayed to C, E and G according to the number of unprinted lines. Consequently, if each speed such as A-B, C-D, E-F and G-H, i.e. the time required at such speed is the same, time required for direction changeover can be sequentially changed by varying an instruction point for direction changeover to C, E and G. |
