PURPOSE:To input a character or a graph on a blackboard with fidelity or store it with optional correction by moving a manual scanner having a line head sensor with a prescribed read width on a blackboard in a prescribed direction. CONSTITUTION:The manual scanner 13 has the line head sensor 21 where plural optical reading elements are arranged in parallel with a prescribed read width and a grip section 23 to scan manually the sensor 21 on the blackboard. Then the image information on the blackboard read by the sensor 21 with the manual scanning of the scanner 13 is inputted and the information inputted by the one consecutive manual scanning is used as one black and a bit map memory 50 storing the image information at each block is provided. Thus, the image information of the blackboard stored in the memory 50 is displayed on a CRT70 and the image information stored in the memory 50 is commanded for operation to be moved to an optional position at least in the unit of blocks by using a mouth 81.
