PURPOSE:To reduce a cost without decreasing accuracy of center positioning of a disk by varying materials of the 1st and 2nd hubs installed on a discoid recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A spindle 14 for rotating and driving a discoid recording medium 2 is engaged with a hub 12 consisting of the 1st and the 2nd hubs 9 and 10 through a center window 13. An expensive special heat resistant resin, for instance, polyarylate and POM or ABS are used for the 1st hub 9 and the 2nd hub 10, respectively. If POM is used for the 2nd hub 10, the material cost can be reduced by more than 35%, an disk center accuracy will not be deteriorated in terms of performance.
