PURPOSE:To have optimum scavenging efficiency over the whole operating range by varying the length of a pipe, which puts the exhaust hole of a two-cycle engine in communication with an enlarged space, in response to the number of revolutions. CONSTITUTION:The engine side exhaust pipe 4b coupled with the exhaust hole 3 of a two-cycle engine 1 is put in communication with the chamber side exhaust pipe 4c through a U-shaped moving exhaust pipe 4a, wherein said chamber side exhaust pipe 4c is coupled with an enlarged chamber 6 in the upper stream of a minor dia. part 8 overstream a muffler 9. Said moving exhaust pipe 4a is slided by a hydraulic cyclinder 11 through a wire 12 and a link 10. When the engine operates at a low revolving speed this moving exhaust pipe 4a is elongated, and the oil pressure in said hydraulic cylinder 11 is raised in response to rise of the number of revolutions to allow the link 10 to attract the moving exhaust pipe 4 for shrinking the length of the exhaust pipe. Accordingly the exhaust efficiency as well as scavenging efficiency can be enhanced throughout the overall operating range of the engine. |
