NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (n is 3-7). USE:An asymmetric source for asymmetric transportation and asymmetric synthesis. It has high selectivity. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be prepared e.g. by reacting 2,2'-dihydroxy-1,1'-biphenanthryl with polyethylene glycol dicitrate (preferably n is 4- 6, e.g. pentaethylene glycol dicitrate), e.g. in anhydrous THF in nitrogen stream in the presence of t-BuOH. Any optical isomers of the compound of formula can be produced by selecting the optical activity of the starting substance.
