PURPOSE:To produce a polymerizable compound capable of giving a polymer having crosslinking density, physical properties, etc. controllable easily by selecting the amount of the compound, by reacting an alkanolamine with a specific epoxy compound containing unsaturated bond at an equivalent ratio within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting (A) an alkanolamine, preferably dialkanolamine (especially diethanolamine) with (B) an opoxy compound containing unsaturated bond and obtained by the reaction of methacrylic acid and glycidol (glycidyl methacrylate) at an equivalent ratio (A/B) of 1/0.95-1/1.05, optionally in a solvent (e.g. ketone, aromatic compound, etc.) at 30-110 deg.C, preferably 40-80 deg.C. A sensitive resin which gives a cured product having excellent physical properties by electron beam irradiation, photo- irradiation in the presence of a sensitizer, or heating in the presence of a peroxide, can be prepared e.g. by reacting the above compound with an isocyanate- terminated prepolymer.
