PRODUCTION OF FIBER COMPOSITE MEMBER

PURPOSE:To produce easily a fiber composite member having resistance to wear and seizure by disposing a fiber molding obtd. by supplying a fiber slurry into a liquid-permeable case having a prescribed shape under rotation into a casting mold and casting a molten metal under high pressure into the mold. CONSTITUTION:A liquid-permeable case 3 consisting of net-like body having a prescribed shape provided in a rotary frame 22 is rotated by a motor 21 via a stationary plate part 22a and a revolving shaft 21a. A fiber slurry contg. a fibrous material and org. and inorg. binders, etc. is supplied via a supply spout 35 into said case 31 to deposite the fibrous material, etc. on the inside wall of said case 31 by the centrifugal force generated as a result of the revolution by which a fiber molding 45 consisting of a cam nose part 45a having the highest fiber density and a base circular part 45b having the fiber density lower than said fiber density is obtd. Such molding 45 is cut at the line (mm.) to a cam piece 46 having a desired thickness. The cam piece is disposed in a casting mold (not shown in the figure) and a molten metal is cast under high pressure into the mold and is penetrated into the inter-fiber gaps of the piece 46. The molten metal is solidified under the high pressure by which the cam shaft having the cam nose part possessing excellent resistance to wear and seizure is inexpensively obtd.
