The subject of the invention is a device for fastening a grinding wheel (23) in portable angle grinders, which device permits the fastening to be released without an auxiliary tool. The device essentially comprises a hollow grinding spindle (16), a feed spindle (20) which is displaceably mounted therein, a displacing device (6) and two flanges, such as a counterflange (22) and nut (21), which receive the grinding wheel (23) between them. In order to release the nut (21), the feed spindle (20) is displaced in the direction of the flanges by actuating the displacing device (6), with the result that the nut (21), connected to the feed spindle (20) via a threaded pin (19), is lifted from the grinding wheel (23).
