PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer containing isocyanurate ring, having excellent compatibility, hardenability, weather resistance, etc. and useful in industrial field, easily, by using a specific diol in the isocyanuration of a (cyclo)alkylene diisocyanate, etc. CONSTITUTION:(A) A diisocyanate compound selected from alkylene diisocyanate, cycloalkylene diisocyanate and aralkylene diisocyanate (e.g. 1,4-tetramethylene diisocyanate) and (B) a diol having >=3 hydrocarbon substituent groups and having a molecular weight of 100-1,000 (e.g. 1,2,2-trimethyl-1,3-propanediol) are reacted together in the presence of (C) an isocyanuration catalyst composed of a compound having low electron density and containing an atom or atomic group having strong cationic property (e.g. sodium propionate) usually at 30-120 deg.C to obtain the objective polymer.
