PURPOSE:To remove the mill scales of a steel bar material and to heat it electrically on-line, and to make a mill-scale removing device small in size by using a physical method instead of a chemical one for removing the mill scales in continuously and electrically heating the material after removing the mill scales of bar steel material. CONSTITUTION:A steel bar material is held by a material transporting mechanism which transports the material in its axial direction to the preceding stage of a continous electric heating device A and is passed through the inside of the mechanism to continuously remove its mill scales by a physical method such as brushing, grinding, and shot blasting. For instance, the mill scales of a wire rod is ground and removed by brushes 9, 9, by taking out its one end from a reel and passing it between pinch rolls 2, 2 mounted on a frame bed 1 and between the brushes 9, 9 driven by a motor 11. Next, the wire rod is passed through the hollow insides of a rotating shaft 3 and a pulley 10, and is fed into the device A by pinch rolls 12, 12. |
