PURPOSE:To obtain a molded layer for the automobile trims, the heat insulators of housing walls, etc., which is light in weight and of a high processability, by a method in which a moisture-curable aromatic polyisocyanate as a binder is mixed into a fibrous material, and the mixture is enclosed in molds and reacted with water vapor. CONSTITUTION:For example, a fibrous material (e.g., Lauan wood fibers, etc.) and 500g of wood chips (A) are mixed with 100g of a moisture-curable aromatic polyisocyanate (B) to obtain a mixture 20A. The mixture 20A is packed laminarly in the cavity 4 of the lower mold 2 of molds 1 and an upper mold 12 is closed. The mold 1 are clamped. Water vapor is introduced into the hollow chamber 13 of the upper mold 12, the pressure of the hollow chamber 3 of the lower mold 2 is reduced by operating a suction pump 8, and the water vapor is reacted with the mixture 20A through the communication holes 15 of the upper mold 12 for hardending the mixture 20A. In this case, the number of the communication holes may be preferably increased beyond the number of the communication holes of the lower mold 2. EFFECT:Solidification can be made simply, the needs for curing time can be eliminated, and no toxic gases are generated. |
