PURPOSE:To attain a read request from a telephone set other than that connected to a facsimile equipment by providing a means detecting interruption of a line to a facsimile storage device. CONSTITUTION:An input/output means (managing processing means) 13 receives picture information data from a line 12 and stores picture information data based on a message data from a recognizing means 11 to a storage means 15. When the means 13 receives the message data representing the read and destination of a desired picture information data from the recognizing means 11, the means 13 awaits a detecting signal from a detecting means 14. When the detecting signal is transmitted, the means 13 recognizes interruption of line and the storage means 15 prepares a picture information data based on the message data. Then the means 13 makes a call to the destination and transmits the prepared picture information data via a line 12. Thus, a telephone set other than that connected to the facsimile equipment can make read request in this way.
