PURPOSE:To prevent the end of a steel bar from sagging and curving with a device for hardening the steel bar while transferring said bar with an outside roller table from the inside of a heating furnace in a order to improve the low- temp. toughness thereof by making the first stage of press rollers of the steel bar movable in the transfer direction. CONSTITUTION:A coolant is ejected to a steel bar A for reinforced concrete in coolers 12, 4- while the steel bar carried out from the inside of a heating furnace 1 is transferred by an outside roller table 3, by which the steel bar is hardened. Press rollers 8 provided with the function to move upward and downward at the timing matched with the passage of the bar A are provided to face the plural rollers 5 of the table 3. At least the pair of rollers 13, 14 of the first stage are made movable in the transfer direction of the bar A. While the bar A is held by the roller pairs 13, 14, the bar can be advanced into the first cooler 12. The cooler 12 is made separatable to above and below and movable upward and downward at the timing matched with the movement of the roller pairs 13, 14 to permit easy advance of the roller pairs 13, 14. |
