PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for a material for blended perfume in high yield easily, by halogenating tricyclene or longicyclene by the use of 2,4,4,6-tetrabromocyclohexa-2,5-dienone as a halogenating agent. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic compound (namely, tricylene or longicyclene) shown by the formula I [X and Y are both H or linked to -X-Y- to form -C(CH2)2CH2 CH2-] is reacted with 2,4,4,6-tetrabromocyclohexa-2,5-dienone to give a cyclic unsaturated bromide shown by the formula II (wavy line shows that bromine atom is either in cis configuration or tarnsconfiguration based on carbon bridge), namely 6-bromo-camphene shown by the formula III or 9-bromolongifolene shown by the formula IV.
