PURPOSE:To provide the titled magnetic alloy thin plate free from slag formation at the leading end of a jet nozzle in forming the same into a thin film according to a high speed quenching process and extremely favorable as a material for a magnetic head, constituted by combining Ru, Mn, Ti and vitrifiable elements with a ferrous transition metal element. CONSTITUTION:Mn and Ru are added to a ferrous transition metal element comprising Co or/and Fe while Ti is additionally added thereto and vitrifiable elements such as Si or/and B or the like are combined with the resulting mixture to provide and amorphous magnetic alloy thin plate for a magnetic head having a composition shown by formula. The plate thickness of this alloy thin plate is about 10-200mum and usually prepared by a method wherein the melt of an alloy having a corresponding composition is subjected to super-quenching at a cooling speed of 10<4> deg.C/sec or more to be solidified. This thin plate is easy in heat treatment, high in saturation magnetic flux density and extremely good in anti-wear property and puching property and, therefore, extremely favorable as a material for a magnetic head. |
