PURPOSE:To prevent surely generation of skid marks by applying preliminarily backing strips via seizure-preventive materials to the sliding parts between a hot rolling material and skids and fixing these materials then charging the rolling material into a heating furnace and heating the same. CONSTITUTION:Backing strips 4 are preliminarily fixed, as shown in the figure, via seizure-preventive materials 3, to a rolling material 1 in the sliding part between the material 1 and skids 2 prior to charging of the material 1 into a heating furnace. A solid material formed of liquid refractories such as mortar or the like having an excellent high-temp. refractory characteristic is used for the above-mentioned material 3. The backing strip 4 which contacts directly with the skid 2 is satisfactory if said strip is manufactured of an ordinary steel having about 1mm. thickness and may be formed to an L shape as shown in the example shown. The material 1 in such a state is charged into the heating furnace and is heated, by which the generation of skid marks is surely prevented and since there is no generation of flaws on the product owing to seizure, etc., the yield and quality of the product are considerably improved. |
