PURPOSE:To extend the life by forming a portion for generating a protuberant section at the tip of a cutting tooth so that the protuberant section with a desired shape can be invariably applied to a machined gear even if re-grinding is performed. CONSTITUTION:The rake face 11 of a cutting tooth Ct it formed in a stepped face. That is, the rake face 11a of a cutting tooth tip 17a is protruded from the rake face 11b of a cutting tooth proper 17b. This protruded portion 15 functions as a portion for generating a protuberant section. Then, the cutting tooth with an involute side face 16 having a tooth width W1 slightly larger than a tooth width W2 to be produced is machined by grinding. Next, a disk-like rotary grindstone 19 shown by a dashed line has a shape corresponding to the stepped shape of the rake face 11 on its peripheral face 19a. According to this constitution, the cutter life can be extended. |
