PURPOSE:To control deformation resistance and strain aging during working and to obtain the titled products by reducing the amount of C to minimize the amount of pearlite causing work hardening, fixing C and N with Ti or the like, and specifying conditions during rolling so that added Ti shows well its effect. CONSTITUTION:A steel billet or an ingot consisting of <=0.10% C, <=0.05% Si, 0.1-0.6% Mn, <=0.10% Al, <=0.3% Ti and the balance Fe or further contg. <=0.3% Nb and/or B satisfying B/N=0.75-1.5 (weight ratio) is prepd. When it is heated is carried out after the hot rolling, cooling from 900 deg.C-700 deg.C is finished in about 100-300sec. Thus, a steel bar and a mild steel wire rod having low strength, high toughness and superior workability for prolonging the life of a tool are obtd. |
