PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-strength two-phase stainless steel for a vehicle having a high Youn's modulus and undergoing no deterioration in the strength of a weld zone after welding by adding specified alloying elements to an Ni-Cr stainless steel and adjusting the Ni balance value to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:1-5% Si, 3-10% Mn and 0.5-3% Cu are added to a Cr-Ni stainless steel contg. <0.05% C, 17-22% Cr and 1-7% Ni, and the components are regulated so as to adjust the Ni balance value represented by equation 1 to -12--6. A high-strength two-phase stainless steel for a vehicle having a high Youngs modulus and high elongation and undergoing no deterioration in the strength of a weld zone after welding is obtd. The structure of the steel consists of ferrite and austenite phases.
