PURPOSE:To increase a sector replacement processing speed when an error is produced by writing immediately the same data to a substitute sector in case an error is detected by the 1st reading check given to a normal sector. CONSTITUTION:The data is written to a normal sector A of a flexible disk, and the reading check is given to the sector A after waiting for a revolution of a disk. If an error is detected, an idle substitute sector which appears first on the same track is secured. Then the same data as the sector A is written to said idle sector. It is checked again whether an error is detected in the reading check of the sector A. When the generation of an error is decided, it is decided that a perpetual error factor exists. Thus the substitute flag of the following sector is turned on. Then it is checked whether or not an error is detected in the reading check of the substitute sector. If no error is detected, the substitute sector is replaced with the sector A. |
