PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a magnetic head with no breakdown of a gap by attaching a glass material having width equal to the desired gap width to a gap forming surface of a core member and heating up the glass material together with a reinforcement glass member to combine two core members and to increase the combining intensity. CONSTITUTION:A glass material 4 is attached to gap forming surfaces 2 and 3 of a core member 1 up to the thickness equal to the desired gap width. A core member 5 is joined to the material 4, and a reinforcement glass material 20 having the same fusing temperature as the material 4 is attached at a place near the press-contact part of the gap forming surface 2 between both core members. Both glass materials 4 and 20 are fused by heat to combine firmly the core members 1 and 5 to each other. Thus no crack is produced despite a cutting process applied to a part A with no gap breakdown caused in a working mode of a magnetic head. In this way, a magnetic head having high reliability is obtained with high production yield. |
