PURPOSE:To ensure both the recording performance with high density and the reproducing performance with high sensitivity just with a single head, by providing a recording winding to generate a magnetic field at the tip part of a magnetic thin film of a ring-shaped magnetic path as well as a reproducing winding to detect a magnetic flux excited at a gap part respectively. CONSTITUTION:Two magnetic thin film tip parts 11 and 12 forming a gap G are provided at the tip part of a head opposite to a recording medium 10. Thus a ring-shaped magnetic path 14 is formed. Then a recording winding 15W provided at the outer circumference of the base part of a ring core 13 produces a magnetic flux going toward the medium 10 through part 11 and 12. When the medium 10 moves to the right, the recording is carried out with a magnetic field generated at the part 12. While a reproducing winding 15R is wound round foot parts 17a and 17b of the core 13 and the part of the gap G is used as a gap of a ring-shaped head. Thus the detection and reproduction are performed. Therefore it is possible to secure the recording performance with high density and the reproducing performance with high sensitivity with a single head. |
