PURPOSE:To prevent torque from abruptly rising, by making gaps different from each other, which are defined upon deenergization between an armature that are divided into a plurality of concentric annular pieces, and a rotary member to which the concentric magnetic pieces are absorbed, at every concentric annular pieces. CONSTITUTION:In an electromagnetic coupling device composed of an input pulley 3 and an output pulley 4, concentric annular pieces 5A, 5B, 5C of an armature A on the output pulley 4 are separated from the output pulley 4 under action of a leaf spring 6 upon deenergization, and gaps g1, g2, g3 defined between the plurality of concentric annular pieces and the output pulley 4 have the following relation, g1<g2<g3. Accordingly, the rise of torque which is transmitted when the armature A is absorbed to the output pulley 4 is made moderate so that shock upon torque transmission may be greatly reduced. |
