PROPORTIONAL SPACING PRINTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To achieve a printing in a number of character set free from exchange mistakes with limited memory capacity by storing character dot data into a character generator of a printer while data of the number of lateral dots for each character is stored into a lateral dot table to read these data for printing based on printing information. CONSTITUTION:When the power source is closed, a character dot data in a cassette for a character set mounted on a printer is stored into a character generator while a data of the number of lateral dots stored into a lateral dot table. After a character data and an attribution data for one digit are written into a character buffer line 9 and an attribution buffer line 10, data of both the line buffers 9 and 10 are readed out with a signal VD from a printing section 16. The character dot data in a parallel-series conversion circuit 12 is read out synchronizing a dot clock CLK for printing at the printing section 16 and fed to the printing section 16 as video signal. This eliminates the need for always preparing all available kinds of character sets thereby reducing the memory capacity of the printer.
