<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture an inexpensive adsorbent having excellent adsorption performance at even high temp. by arranging a carbon element-contg. solid under high temp. atmosphere to bring the solid into contact with sulfur or a sulfur compound and forming the sulfur compound on the surface of said solid mainly. CONSTITUTION:A carbon element-contg. solid is arranged under high temp. atmosphere of about 600-900 deg.C and brought into contact with sulfur or a sulfur compound to form the sulfur compound on the surface of said solid mainly. A place where the contact of said solid 13 and sulfur or the sulfur compound is performed is regulated to, for example, the inside of an SO2 reduction tower 3 of a stack gas desulfurization apparatus A. As a result, an inexpensive adsorbent having excellent adsorption performance at even high temp. can be manufactured. A conventional S-contg. activated carbon can be used at only the temp. range of about <=120 deg.C, but said adsorbent can adsorb heavy metals at even high temp. However, the adsorbent is preferably used at <=350 deg.C under existence of oxygen to prevent it from burning and furthermore the usage at <=600 deg.C is necessary under coexistence of moisture.</p> |
