PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disk which excels in especially the rubbing performance and the machining performance with a long lifetime, by using Al2O3, TiC and Si or an Si oxide to a slider material for thin film magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:Al2O3, TiC and the Si or SiO2 powder are kneaded completely by a ball mill and molded with a hot press. Otherwise both Al2O3 and TiC are burnt at a low level of density, and Si (99.9% purity) is impregnated under vacuum into the calcined product. Then a material turned into high density through hot press is used to obtain a slider part 1 of a thin film head. The Al2O3/TiC in said material is set at 8/2-2/8 together with the Si set at 15wt%. Thus it is possible to obtain a slider of a long lifetime which is excels in the machining performance as well as in the rubbing performance to a magnetic disk. |
