PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of cracks in a V-shaped bottom by bending and forming a V-shaped separator made of nonwoven fabric of glass fiber while applying pressure toward the V-shaped bottom from the end of the separator. CONSTITUTION:When positive and negative electrode plates are separated in a retainer type sealed lead storage battery and a separator 1 made of nonwoven fabric of glass fiber that holds an electrolyte is bent and formed in a V-shaped form, the separator is bent while applying pressure from the ends 4 and 4' of the separator toward a V-shaped bottom 2 using a specific jig. As a result, cracks can fully be prevented from occurring at the V-shaped bottom 2 by the pressurization and the reliability of the lead storage battery can be improved by preventing the shortcircuit between the positive and negative electrode plates. |
