PURPOSE:To prevent an air-zinc cell from being dissolved as well as any gas from being produced in the cell, and improve a leakproof property by adding a specific boric acid series surface-active agent into a caustic alkaline electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:In an air cell with use of zinc for a negative electrode and activated carbon for a positive electrode, a boric acid series surface-active agent represented by illustrated general formulae I and II is added to an aqueous caustic alkaline solution such as caustic potash as an electrolyte by about 0.01-1wt%. Here, R in the formulae is an alkyl group of a C number of 7-21 and l, m are respectively 1-20. With the air cell described above, a leakproof property as well as discharge characteristics can be improved. |
