PURPOSE:To produce a titled novel magnetic and photomagnetic medium by forming a pattern of a fine ferromagnetic substance in a laminated film of a nonmagnetic body by a light beam, an ion beam, an electron beam, etc. or by electrical heating. CONSTITUTION:The laminated films of a nonmagnetic body are formed on a substrate. The material of the nonmagnetic body is selected from the materials available as a recording material when each nonmagnetic body reacts by light, heat, etc. and having appropriate magnetic anisotropy and a Curie point. The film thickness is determined in dependence on the easiness of the reaction and the intensity of heat and light capable of being added, and usually regulated in the range of several tens Angstrom - several mum. The whole thickness of laminated film is usually ranging in several hundreds Angstrom - several tens mum. The size of a ferromagnetic pattern formed in the nonmagnetic film by heat and light is about several hundreds Angstrom at the lower limit in the present techniques, but the shape can be optionally selected. |
